Innovative agricultural water management is crucial for supporting technologies transforming agricultural value chains in Africa. The Technologies for African Agricultural Transformation (TAAT) initiative, part of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Feed Africa Initiative, aims to enhance agricultural productivity by rapidly scaling proven technologies to millions of farmers across the continent. TAAT brings together a consortium of partners to deploy these technologies across selected agricultural value chains through commodity and enabler compacts.
TAAT-WEC deploys proven water management innovations that improve the productivity of key crop value chains, including rice, wheat, vegetables, orange-fleshed sweet potatoes, and sorghum. This ensures enhanced performance, productivity of these crops, and resilience of the environment. A vital aspect of TAAT-WEC’s approach is providing technical assistance to value chain actors, including extension officers, farmers, private sector participants, and NGOs, to facilitate the widespread adoption of these technologies.
