This session is designed to showcase the digital innovations being developed by IWMI and provide a forum for exploring the latest digital innovations in Earth Observation (EO) applications for improving irrigation water management in Africa. Case studies from selected Africa will demonstrate the practical impact of these innovations in improving water management and agricultural outcomes. The session format includes presentations, a digital showcase of water data products and tools, and a plenary discussion. Three 5 -7 presentations will provide insights into the diverse water data products, tools, and dissemination platforms, followed by a panel discussion.
The panel discussion will involve leading EO, irrigation, and digital agriculture experts, who will discuss the challenges and opportunities in scaling these technologies across diverse African contexts. Topics will include data accessibility, capacity building, policy integration, and the role of public-private partnerships in driving innovation. Following the panel, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in a Q&A session, fostering dialogue on how EO and digital tools can be tailored to meet the needs of farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders.
